Road2™
Road2TM is the world's first electric vehicle range calculator which relies on a physics simulator instead of approximations or other "tricks". This allows us to have much greater accuracy then other techniques. Our users can pick a route and calculate how much of a charge it will take to reach their destination, with everything from terrain to weather forecasts taken into account. Places to charge at are plotted along the route
A traditional electric vehicle charger map will show only electric vehicle-specific chargers. However, these chargers are few and far between. Rather than leaving our drivers stranded, we show them EV chargers, places that rent spaces with high power sockets (such as RV parks), places that commonly provide power to EV owners in emergencies (such as fire departments), et cetera.
In an extreme case, our software can offer to call ahead to a tow truck to have them meet the driver where they'll run out of charge, or to offer a phone book of businesses in the area to try to find an emergency charge. In short, our software is designed to completely eliminate the "fear" aspect of an electric vehicle purchase.
Under each site, we track all kinds of information – everything from warnings to user quality ratings to directions, user photographs, and things to do in the area. Users can correct bad information and leave their own comments. Our software is designed to periodically email the creator of a site entry to have them verify that it is still up and running properly
Our product is currently available as a web application. We also plan to produce a smartphone-optimized version, a hardware version with built-in GPS to be mounted on the dash, and a version to be embedded into new vehicles. In the latter version, the software can make use o f vehicle sensor data rather than relying on the user to accurately describe the trip. It can also model the driver's habits to ensure as accurate a simulation as possible
While plug-in hybrid owners do not face as much range anxiety as pure electric vehicle owners, our software can offer them additional benefits, in that we can predict the loads on the vehicle in advance and start up or stop the generator before challenging or easy stretches o f road are reached
We are additionally developing custom versions of our application to meet OEM needs, such as scenario modeling applications for vehicle manufacturers and speed limit-restricted route finding.
The reception from leading experts, auto manufacturers and industry suppliers has been nearly universally exciting and positive. Our developing partnerships will make this applications widely accepted and used to enhance the electrice car travel experience.
